I’m Alyssa and my passion for health and nutrition was born out of my own pain. To be honest, I never had any interest in anything health or nutrition related until my own health challenges forced me to become my own advocate and start searching for real solutions to my growing list of health complaints:
- Gallbladder pain
- Acid reflux
- Food intolerances
- Hair loss
- Candida and other gut infections
Along my health journey I started meeting so many people who were experiencing similar health challenges and I desperately wanted to help these people feel better too! Since graduating from functional nutrition school, I have set out to share how diet, nutrition and lifestyle can heal the body from the inside out.
Three things I believe are vitally important to our health:
- Gut healing.
Whether you’re experiencing digestive issues or your symptoms are skin, hormone, blood sugar, mood, or immune-related, gut health is always a key element to address. 70-80 percent of the immune system is located in that long tube from our mouth to our anus, that we call the gut. And if anything is “off” anywhere in the body, something is off in the gut too. Gut healing is one of the first places begin in your journey to feeling good. Knowing when and how to use certain foods and nutrients to promote the healing of our gut is key to reclaiming our health.
- Detoxing at a cellular level.
The average person in the United States is exposed to thousands of harmful toxins every day. From the food we eat, the air we breathe, and the water we drink…to skincare and cleaning products we use, we are constantly bombarded with dangerous chemicals. These chemicals put a major burden on our bodies, which can have devasting effects on our health. While you have probably heard of juice cleanses, colon, kidney and liver cleanses, these types of cleanses are usually not going “deep” enough to make a difference with health challenges caused by toxic overload. This is why I am a strong proponent of The True Cellular Detox which removes toxins from deeper tissues while supporting the body’s own ability to process them out through our detoxification organs.
- Our attitude towards ourselves and our health.
Our brains are like computers, and our thoughts are the programs running in the background, having major effects on the outcome of our health and well-being. How we feel about ourselves and the self-talk we do every day can either make or break us. It is vital to analyze how we treat ourselves and begin to make positive, daily habits in how we think and feel. You can eat all the right food and live the cleanest life-style, but if you have “stinking-thinking,” you’re still going to have rotten outcomes.
